New China Glaze Glitter at Sally's - "Silver of Sorts" and Silver Glitter Comparisons.

Sooo, I finally found the silver glitter in the new China Glaze core line glitters. I went to a few Sallys and the computer wouldn't scan them and they refused to just override it and sell it to me. (shrugs). I ended up speaking to the general manager (unintentionally), and she was extremely mad about it.

Anyway, the reason why I didn't pick this up the first time I saw it was because it looked /so/ similar to others that I own. I opened it up and swatched it over what I was wearing at the time (Too Yacht to Handle by China Glaze), and realized it is so much better than the other silver glitters that I own.

This is China Glaze's "Silver of Sorts" and it is this GORGEOUS silver glitter. It has micro silver metallic glitter, and then medium hex metallic silver glitter. It is so glitter dense it isn't even funny. I got it almost opaque with one thicker coat on my index and middle finger. I did much much much thinner coats on my pinkie and ring finger to try and see if you could use it as a topper. You can - but I think it is MUCH better for just covering the whole nail. The effect is absolutely awesome. Even my husband looked at my nails and was like "HOLY CRAP", and he usually doesn't appreciate glitters.

I did look back in my nail polish collection and found 3 other glitters that could somewhat be similar. They were Milani Jewel FX Nail Lacquer in Silver, China Glaze's Diamond in the Rough (Ulta Exclusive glitter), and Essie's Set in Stones.

Index - Silver of Sorts
Middle -FX Silver
Ring - Diamond in the Rough
Pinkie - Set in Stones

As you can see, on one coat, none of them hold a torch to Silver of Sorts. They are all just too sparse application wise, and the glitters are just not as dense. If you're looking for an opaque in two coats silver glitter, pick this one up, Absolutely amazing. China Glaze nailed this glitter.

I have only seen the new China Glaze glitters at Sally's, and they're found on the wall rack with the rest of the core collection - they're not in their own display on a shelf.

New China Glaze Glitters at Sally's Beauty Supply!

Hello everyone! I am so sorry I haven't been around. My mother, my husband, and my grandfather have all been having health issues, and I'm just been an emotional wreck. Added to that, when I started blogging it was getting close to finals week, and I'm enough of a wreck during that time anyway. Adding anything onto school stress just kills me. Please forgive me!

Since this weekend Sally's had the deal 50% off red tag clearance and buy one get one China Glaze, I have been stalking Sally's all weekend buying up all of the China Glazes they are getting rid of. I needed another polish to be able to get the BOGO deal, so I went to the normal collection and looked around and saw 7 new glitters (I only bought 6, going to need to go out and get the silver). They're all new and the lady behind the counter told me they were BRAND new and she had just put them out. I am so excited to share them with you!

First up is Star Hopping. This is a BEAUTIFUL polish. I can't even. It's a deep blue jelly base with blue hexes, gold and teal micro glitter, and holographic micro glitter. This is such a stunner in the sun and it is so hard to photograph. This was the first one I plucked off the shelf and I guarded it with my life. This was 2 coats, and it was completely opaque!

This pretty pink glitter is You're Too Sweet. It is just a fine mix of light pink and holographic micro glitter. On my index and middle finger I did two coats of You're Too Sweet, and you can see that it is just not packed enough to be opaque. It is a VERY thin formula, definitely base heavy, so it is meant to be a topper. I did one coat of it over China Glaze's Dance Baby on my ring and pinkie, and it think it looks VERY pretty. Almost like a fairy dust but with pink added in.

This next one is Pick Me Up Purple. In the shade this looks so metallic and awesome. It is a mix of purple and holographic micro glitter, and then a slightly bigger circle holographic glitter. This one is absolutely amazing, and I got full coverage on 2 coats. I can't even tell you how gorgeous this glitter was.

This is Turn Up The Heat. This is a GORGEOUS berry/magenta/pink jelly base with a mix of light pink circle glitters and light pink and magenta micro glitters. This one is so pretty and it practically just glowed on my skin tone. So beautiful. This was opaque on 2 think coats, and the jelly base gave so much depth with all the glitters in it.

This one is Can You Sea Me?. This is a mix of blue micro glitter and bigger holographic hex glitters. I really thought this one would be my favorite, but it was kind of a let down. It really reminded me off Gone Gonzo by OPI, but with holographic glitter instead of just plain silver. Still, it's very pretty, but not my favorite. My index and middle finger have 2 coats of Can You Sea Me? and my ring and pinkie have one coat over Putting on Airs by Wet n Wild.

This one is Counting Carats. This one has gold micro glitter, a sparse amount of holographic micro glitter, and then larger gold hex glitters. This is a great glitter, and I really enjoy it. I did 2 coats, and honestly, had a hard time telling there was bald spots. I only really noticed when I took the pictures with flash. This one isn't that holographic, you really need to get it in the right lighting to see the holographic particles, but when you do it is beautiful. Either that or my camera was just being weird, which is likely as possible.

Over all, I really loved these glitters. I'm going to run out tomorrow and grab the silver I left behind, and update the blog with that one when I grab it. I really hope you enjoyed these swatches, and I hope your Sally's has these so you can pick them up!

New China Glaze: EverGlaze extended wear system in What's the Coral-ation?

Last night I received an email from Sally's with the March deals. I scrolled down hoping for nail polish deals and saw a buy 2 get a topcoat free, but it was for the China Glaze EverGlaze system. Being the extremely curious person I am I quickly drove 30 minutes to my nearest Sally's and evaluated all of the polishes. The polishes are NOT dupes for any existing china glaze colors in the regular line, and they are all unique with unique names. I picked up two of them, one of them being "What's the Coral-ation?", which naturally I had a soft spot for because my Corgi's name is Coral.
Now, this system is meant to leave your nails like you've basically had shellac done, but without the need for the UV light. The specially made topcoat for these polishes is supposed to work the same way as a topcoat cured under UV light would. The claim on these polishes is that they will last 10 days with no chips, hence the "extended wear".

What's the Coral-ation? is an absolutely stunning coral, which leans a little more orange than pink. In some of the pictures you can see this beautiful silver shimmer running through it, but it was very hard to capture that same shimmer on the nail. It is visible in person though, but I guess the lighting just dulled it out enough where my camera couldn't pick it up.
I did NOT use a base coat with this, because with this EverGlaze system, there is no base coat. I used 3 thin coats of What's the Coral-ation?, and then a thicker layer of the top coat (mostly because it's a little thicker than normal polish). The polish dried decently fast, but I had some problems with bald spots with this color. I think I just didn't wait long enough for it to dry completely before applying the next coat, so if you're careful, I believe you can get away with 2 coats for this polish. I wrapped my tips in polish, because on their website they tell you to do so, which it's not something I normally do.

I know A LOT of people will be excited about this: the brushes are wider! They're not the typical China Glaze brush, which a lot of people complain is too thin (I don't personally care). I really liked the application of both the top coat and the polish itself, but it is a little thicker than a normal China Glaze formula, so be warned, but I do believe it was meant to be that way.

I am going to leave this polish on for 10 days and give you guys and update on how the wear and tear went down with this polish. I'm actually really loving it so far, and I'm curious to see how it holds up. I'm a pre-medicinal biology student, so I'm constantly working with chemicals, washing my hands, taking gloves on and off, etc, so I definitely get some good wear and tear in that area.

These are available (as far as I know) only at Sally's. The girl stocking the shelves said she had literally just put them up a few hours before I got there because they had just got them in. This might mean your Sally's might not have them right away, but I would keep checking back. So far, I really like them, and they might just have me hooked on this line too!

UPDATE
This polish lasted me a whole 7 days! For me, that's a huge number. I am constantly using my hands and I am pretty rough on them, going back and forth from hot conditions to cold, etc, especially when I'm working in the chemistry lab. This polish didn't chip off, or show any signs of chipping, until I broke a nail, and obviously the polish came off with it (to be expected). This polish exceeded my expectations and so much more, and I have since went out and bought a few more colors. If you would like pictures or maybe a video, I can try and get them up for you! Just let me know! :)

Kleancolor "Don't Mess With My Chicness" Nail Polish Collection: Swatch and Review!

So, a few weeks ago I was looking up random nail polishes on ebay, and I came across this collection. It is a collection of pastel (sort of) polishes with matte black circle glitters in them. Some of the polishes have small, circular, almost micro sized matte black glitters, but most of them don't. Anyway, I was pretty intrigued by these polishes and of course had to pick them up (I got the collection of 6 for ~$10 with shipping). Before ordering them, I searched and searched for swatches, and alas, could not find ANY of this collection. I know many bloggers have a problem with "low end polishes" and only really swatch the higher end ones to try and impress people, but I'm here to HELP people find swatches of something before they buy it, so I will buy and swatch just about anything.

First off, these had a crelly formula, which is an odd mix between a cream and a jelly, which is why you were still able to see the glitter beneath a coat of polish. It did wash them out, but they were still noticeable and made for a cool affect. These took a little while to dry, and I did not wear a top coat with any of these swatches. It took too long, and I would have run out of sunlight if I had waited.

Now for the swatches!

First up is Chic Pink. This color is a very pretty pastel pink, with medium size matte black circle glitters. I used two coats for the swatch above, and now that I think about it, I probably should have done 3 thin coats. This one was a bit think, and it's pretty easy to tell. I didn't fish much for glitters, I kinda just applied it how it was on the brush. If you wanted it to be even on all fingers, I'm sure you'd have to fish.

Chic Teal happens to be one of my favorites in this collection! Even though it's not really minty, it really does remind me of mint chocolate chip. This was two coats, and like I said for the previous color, I probably should have used 3 thin coats, because these tend to be thick, especially with all the glitters. This is one of the colors that had the smaller matte black glitters, and I think it looks a lot better with it. It seems to take away from the empty space, unlike the ones with just the bigger circle glitter.

Chic Yellow is a pastel, but not really, yellow. It, again, has the larger yellow glitter throughout it. It was less thick than Chic Pink, but still slightly thick, so 3 thin coats probably would have been better than the thicker 2 I used. This one is okay, but I'm not a huge fan of the color on me. (Sorry for the mess on my index finger, it was SO thick on that one.)

Chic Blue is a BEAUTIFUL robin egg blue, with, again, black circular glitter in it. This one covered the second best, in my opinion, and was manageable with 2 thicker coats. I'm sure if you're more careful you can get this to look great. This one did seem to have less glitter in it than any of the others in the collection, and you can even tell just by looking and comparing the bottles between them.

Chic Purple was my absolute FAVORITE in this collection. It is a beautiful purple, and in the shade it definitely leans more towards being a pastel. It was PACKED with the circular matte glitter, but also with tons of micro black glitter. This one was definitely the easiest to work with. This one was definitely the sheerest, but was not as thick, so it was easier to let coats dry between, and definitely easier to make opaque. I think because this one was thinner it was easier to get the glitter to lay on the nail and to stay there when brushing it on. This one is beautiful, and if you were to order any of these, it should be this one!

Chic Orange is a fun orange, which is NOT pastel, packed with circular matte glitters. This one had a decent formula, but tended to run to the edges of my nail. This would be fun for Halloween.

MY HONEST OPINION: I actually really like these. Even with the slight formula problems, I think that these are really awesome. I love it when brands listen to what their customer's want (because really, these are pretty similar to a lot of things indie sellers make). Kleancolor truly tried to include what we've been ranting and raving over, and I commend them for it. I think a lot of these would look great on most skin tones, and all they need is a shiny top coat or a coat of Fairy Dust to really bump up the look. I would easily buy these again, especially since Kleancolor really isn't too terribly expensive.

You can pick up Kleancolor on their website here. I don't believe this collection is on their website, but I bought it here: Ebay listing for Don't Mess With My Chicness

Added bonus, this is my dog Coral modeling "Chic Teal" and thinking that I'm crazy!

Wet n Wild "Yo Soy" and Hit Polish Nail Lacquer "Divination"

Well, to be completely honest, I really had no desire to paint my nails tonight. I got a package earlier containing 12 Klean Color polishes, and as I was opening it, pop, my index finger polish literally just popped off, all at once. Great. So, I decided to do my nails tonight with 2 polishes I needed to try before I could begin to try any of the other new ones I have bought recently.

So first off, I decided I just wanted to go with a nude look tonight, and coincidentally, I bought Wet n Wild Yo Soy this morning at Hi-School Pharmacy. Yo Soy is a nice, creamy, very neutral color, that I find very flattering on my skin tone. It took only two coats to get completely opaque, and with my small nails, it honestly could have taken just one if I had been more careful to avoid streaks. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with how great the formula and color are on this polish, considering it was only a whopping .99.

So recently I have been getting back into looking at indie brands. I took a break from nail polish for a while when my husband and I got married, due to just being busy with other things and us being short on money. Now that it's all worn off, and we can actually spend more than 10 minutes away from each other, I've started looking into what I've missed. I came across Hit Polish Nail Lacquer on etsy, and was just skimming through her polishes. That's when I came across Divination. Divination is a very light green shimmery base loaded with large teal and gold holographic circle glitters, medium gold and teal hex glitters, and small teal and gold hex and circle glitters, All of this with this beautiful teal shimmer running through it. It is absolutely stunning. I wore this on my ring finger with 2 coats. I didn't have to fish to get any glitters, I actually got more than enough of the large glitter, so much that my small nails couldn't handle it all.

The only down side to the polish was that it was quite thick, and you needed to be very careful how much you had on your brush.

I hope you enjoy my #notd and that you will check back for my next one!

Also... this mani is "doxie approved"

The Hopeful Beginning of a Great Journey

In a world where your life is controlled by a dachshund... and you're addicted to nail polish...

My name is Maddie,  I'm a 21 year old college student majoring in Pre-Medicinal Biology, ultimately going into a post baccalaureate program to get my BSN. I'm a mother of two dogs, a mini dachshund named Maggie May and a Corgi/Shiba Inu mix named Coral. They are the most precious things in my life. I'm married to an amazing man that I have known since high school, and we are both devoutly Christian and love the Lord.

I began to collect nail polish about 6 years ago, and my collection has just exploded since. I have accumulated so many, and continue to add to it, so I figured I would share every experience and every drop of polish along with others. My Maggie May is fascinated by my polish, probably just the smell and her odd desire to taste everything, but this causes her to sleep on my lap as I paint my nails. She has kept my company while doing it ever since the first day we got to take her home. Since she is such a huge part of my life, and my companion while I work on my nails, I figured I would share her with you too.

Yes. I make them wear human clothes. Especially sweaters in the winter.... :)
